Attention. Not all menu options are active. _______________________________________________________________________________ SETUP This package can be run from a DVD-ROM (D:\Empire322zv2win\run-empire.bat). However, it is strongly recommend to do a setup as described below, and run EMPIRE from the hard disk (~3.5Gb of free space required). a) If you have downloaded file "Empire322zv2win.zip" from Internet - unzip file "Empire322zv2win.zip" to HD disk (e.g. C:\) b) If you have DVD/ROM: - start setup.bat or - unzip file "Empire322zv2win.zip" to HD disk or - copy complete directory D:\Empire322zv2win from DVD-ROM to HD disk Note. No software installation is needed. No configuration. All software is pre-configured and ready to run. _______________________________________________________________________________ CONTENT The distribution includes portable versions for Windows of: 1) Empire-3.2.2 (MALTA) package - with executables for Windows (prepared using gfortran 4.8.1) - and data from EXFOR (as of 2014-01-17) 2) GNU Fortran (GCC) 4.8.1 3) Active Tcl/Tk 8.4.20 4) Python 2.7.6 5) Postscript viewer: GSView 2.6 + Ghostscript 5.50 _______________________________________________________________________________ QUICK TEST: 1. Go to C:\Empire322zv2win\quick-test 2. start runme.bat _______________________________________________________________________________ START NEW EMPIRE PROJECT. - Method-1: using main batch script 1. Go to C:\Empire322zv2win (use Windows Explorer or "Computer" icon) 2. Start run-empire.bat The system will use default working directory "C:\wrk" for your data - Method-2: use test examples via Windows Explorer 1. Go to directory C:\Empire322zv2win\test 2. Start pu240.bat or pt105.bat (by double-click) - Method-3: work via desktop technology 1. Prepare Empire-icon on your Desktop: a) Start Windows Explorer or open "Computer" icon on your Desktop b) Go to directory C:\Empire322zv2win c) Send to Desktop file: "run-empire.bat" (create shortcut) d) Optional: change icon to C:\Empire322zv2win\run-empire.ico 2. Start Empire-GUI by following ways: a) either double click on Empire icon on your Desktop b) or prepare input file.inp in your working directory and drag-and-drop it to the Empire-icon on your Desktop or b) or drag-and-drop your working directory to the Empire-icon - Method-4: work in DOS-Window (~terminal) 1. Run "cmd.exe" and type: 1. cd C:\Empire322zv2win 2. mkdir mywrk 3. cd mywrk 4. copy C:\Empire322zv2win\wrk\* . ~~~Three files will be copied: ".Xrunrc", "runme.bat", "pd105.inp" 5. start runme.bat ~~~You will have opened Tcl/Tk GUI-interface to Empire ~~~Modify default input file "pd105.inp" or use your own input Important. Please, do NOT use blank (space) symbol neither in your directory names nor in your files and project names. _______________________________________________________________________________ WORK ON YOUR EMPIRE PROJECT. Having EMPIRE with GUI Interface running on Windows you can work with it in the same way as you would do in any other system (Linux, Mac-OSX): see short description of EMPIRE package in EMPIRE-3.2.2/README.TXT, documentation and manual in EMPIRE-3.2.2/doc/.
