VARLAMOV.readme Parameters of Giant Dipole Resonances (By V.V. Varlamov et al, CDFE Moscow) *************************************
Background ---------- V.V. Varlamov et al, Centre for Photonuclear Experiments Data (CDFE), Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Moscow State University (Moscow, Russia) compiled extensive bibliography of Photonuclear Data [1]. As a comprehensive addition to the compilation is a table "Parameters of Giant Dipole Resonance", see pp. 196 - 213 of Ref.[1] and Ref.[2].
The table contains information on giant dipole resonance (GDR) parameters for 82 elements (215 isotopes and natural compositions) with Z between 1 and 95. There is altogether about 1 050 entries. Included are parameters deduced from various photonuclear cross sections, such as photoabsorption, total neutron production, neutron yield, and also single, double and triple neutron production, charged particle emission and fission. The table, that is more extensive than the well known atlas by Dietrich & Berman [3], contains also all GDR parameters included in Ref.[3].
Contents of varlamov.dat ------------------------ The file contains those GDR parameters, selected from Refs.[1,2], that may be of direct interest to nuclear reaction model calculations:
1. GDR parameters deduced from photoabsorption (G,ABS) cross sections, and GDR parameters deduced from total neutron production (G,SN) cross sections
(G,SN) = (g,n) + (g,np) + (g,2n) + (g,3n) + ... +(g,F)
since often (G,SN) is a good approximation to (G,ABS). It should be noted that the atlas by Dietrich & Berman [3] is based purely on total neutron production cross sections (termed "total photoneutron cross sections, sigma(g,tot)" in Ref.[3]).
2. In the cases when (G,ABS) and (G,SN) data are not available, GDR parameters deduced from neutron yield (G,XN) cross sections
(G,XN) = (g,n) + (g,np) + 2(g,2n) + 3(g,3n) + ... + nu(g,F)
are presented.
3. In the cases when none of the above data are available, GDR parameters deduced from neutron yield (G,N), (G,2N), and (G,F) cross sections for most heavy nuclei are presented.
Altogether, the file varlamov.dat contains 366 entries:
Reaction No of entries ........ ............. (G,ABS) 56 (G,SN) 259 (G,XN) 18 (G,N) 5 (G,2N) 2 (G,F) 26 ........ ............. Total 366 entries
Format of varlamov.dat ---------------------- Each entry is represented by 1 line containing description of the reaction, numerical data of GDR parameters and reference. In the cases when there are more than one clear maxima with comparable amplitudes in the GDR cross section, their parameters are shown in additional lines.
The format is as follows:
NUCL A REACT E-MAX SIG FWHM E-INT SIG-INT SIG-INT-1 REFERENCE AUTHOR (MeV) (mb) (MeV) (MeV) (MeV*mb) (mb)
