ADS-2.0 Nuclear Data Library

Application Library for Accelerator Driven Systems
and New Reactor Designs

(December 2008)

NEW : ADS High Energy Library Available (December 2013)

Participants at the IAEA Technical Meeting on "Application Libraries for ADS and Transmutation", held in Vienna, 15-17 December 2004, recommended the generation of a limited scope test library for Monte- Carlo as well as deterministic transport codes for use in the analysis of ADS [INDC(NDS)-0469] . The generation of the ADS nuclear data library for testing was undertaken by IAEA-NDS [INDC(NDS)-0474]. The number of materials was extended from 30 to 156 in 2008 on the basis of the same processing procedures [INDC(NDS)-0545]. These data files can be downloaded from the Web and/or can be obtained on CD-ROM (upon request). Contact IAEA/NDS for suggestions and feedbacks.

Nuclear data

The ADS nuclear data library includes:

- Evaluated nuclear data files (ADS-ENDF): Contains selected evaluated nuclear data files in ENDF-6 format.

- ACE-formatted cross-section data files (ADS-ACE): Contains point-wise continuous-energy cross-section data in ACE format for MCNP calculations, and probability tables (PT) in the unresolved resonance range, if applicable. Thermal scattering law data are also given for hydrogen bound in light water, deuterium bound in heavy water, and carbon bound in graphite.

- Multigroup cross-section data files: Based on the ORNL 421-group energy structure, the multi-group cross sections are given at different temperatures and Bondarenko sigma0 values. Thermal scattering law cross sections are also included for hydrogen bound in light water, deuterium bound in heavy water, and graphite. Cross-section data are available in two formats: MATXS (ADS-MATXS) and GENDF (ADS-GENDF).

Additionally, the SIGACE package can be downloaded for Doppler broadening of the ACE-formatted file. This package is a useful tool for the generation of cross-section ACE-files at different temperatures.

Self-shielding

The ACE-formatted files contain point-wise continuous-energy cross-section data, and self-shielding data can be explicitly obtained during the Monte-Carlo calculation. If applicable, probability tables (PT) are supplied in the unresolved resonance range.

Self-shielding is taken into account by means of the Bondarenko sigma0 approach, and the sets of values are given below:
