Trkov for the IAEA-NDS, October 2011) 131 1451 13 131 1451 14 Total cross section 131 1451 15 The data of Phillips [2], Battat [3] and Katsurov [4] were 131 1451 16 considered. The total cross section is the sum of the partials. 131 1451 17 The constituent reaction cross sections (mainly the elastic), 131 1451 18 were adjusted such that the total cross section matched the bulk 131 1451 19 of the experimental points. 131 1451 20 131 1451 21 Elastic cross section 131 1451 22 Measurements of the competing reactions (n,2n) and (n,3n) exist 131 1451 23 only at 14 MeV and are negligible in comparison with the elastic 131 1451 24 cross section. At energies above 20 MeV the measurements of 131 1451 25 Seagrave [5] indicate a distinct drop in the elastic cross 131 1451 26 sections. Considering the constraint on the measured total cross 131 1451 27 section, this could indicate that the competing reactions are 131 1451 28 becoming significant. However, there are no measurements of the 131 1451 29 competing reactions at these energies that could support such an 131 1451 30 increase, so the elastic cross section was extrapolated linearly 131 1451 31 in log-log scale with the gradient adjusted to match the 131 1451 32 measured total cross sections. 131 1451 33 131 1451 34 Elastic angular distributions 131 1451 35 Above 20 MeV measurements of the elastic angular differential 131 1451 36 cross sections by Seagrave [5] are available and they extend up 131 1451 37 to 23 MeV. The angular distributions are in good agreement with 131 1451 38 the measurements. A flat extrapolation to 60 MeV was performed. 131 1451 39 131 1451 40 Non-elastic cross section 131 1451 41 The non-elastic reaction cross sections are redundant and can be 131 1451 42 reconstructed from the cross sections of the constituting (n,2n) 131 1451 43 and (n,3n) reactions. Some measurements declared to be the non- 131 1451 44 elastic cross section exist in EXFOR by Seagrave, which suggest 131 1451 45 a strong increase of the (n,2n) and (n,3n) cross sections above 131 1451 46 20 MeV, but since the same author also reported the declining 131 1451 47 elastic cross sections in this energy range, an error in the 131 1451 48 assignment of the contributions to the reaction can not be 131 1451 49 excluded. The experimental data were ignored. 131 1451 50 131 1451 51 Two-neutron emission cross section 131 1451 52 The two-neutron emission cross section has a threshold at 8.35 131 1451 53 MeV. A single measurement by Mather [1] is available. This 131 1451 54 measurement was strongly underpredicted in ENDF/B-VII.0 library. 131 1451 55 The cross sections were replaced by those from the ENDF/B-VI.8 131 1451 56 evaluation, which are in good agreement with the measurement. 131 1451 57 For this reason the ENDF/B-VII.1b4 evaluation for this material 131 1451 58 was taken as a starting point. The data were extrapolated 131 1451 59 linearly in log-log scale to approximately preserve the gradient 131 1451 60 of the cross sections at 20 MeV. The angular distributions and 131 1451 61 the emission spectra were extrapolated flat to 60 MeV. 131 1451 62 131 1451 63 Three-neutron emission cross section 131 1451 64 The three-neutron emission cross section has a threshold at 131 1451 65 11.32 MeV. A single measurement by Mather [1] is available. The 131 1451 66 cross sections are not present in the ENDF/B VII.0 evaluation, 131 1451 67 but they appear in JEFF-3.1.1 and originate from the CENDL-2 131 1451 68 evaluation. They were normalised to the measured cross section 131 1451 69 at 14 MeV. The cross sections for this reaction are also present 131 1451 70 in the EAF-2010 library and tend to be somewhat higher, but they 131 1451 71 are given up to 60 MeV. The cross sections from the EAF-2010 131 1451 72 library were adopted for the FENDL-3 library for this reaction. 131 1451 73 Since no double-differential data exist in any of the evaluated 131 1451 74 data files, the neutron emission is assumed isotropic in the 131 1451 75 laboratory system and the emission spectrum is represented by 131 1451 76 the evaporation spectrum with an effective temperature of 600 131 1451 77 keV, independent of incident neutron energy. 131 1451 78 131 1451 79 Verification 131 1451 80 The CHECKR code reports no problems. Fizcon reports that for 131 1451 81 MT=16 in MF=5 the value of U is not consistent. It seems likely 131 1451 82 that this is a false message because FIZCON compares (Q+U)/Q to 131 1451 83 a tolerance of 10-3, but U is given in the laboratory system 131 1451 84 while the Q-value is defined in the centre-of-mass system. The 131 1451 85 PSYCHE code reports that the scattering radius of 0.364 is not 131 1451 86 in the range between 0.1011 and 0.2456, but this is the 131 1451 87 evaluator’s choice. PSYCHE also reports that the total secondary 131 1451 88 energy exceeds the available energy for the (n,2n) reaction, but 131 1451 89 this problem is inherited from the original evaluation. 131 1451 90 Processability of the file is checked by running the codes of 131 1451 91 the PrePro-2010 series including LINEAR, RECENT, SIGMA1 and 131 1451 92 FIXUP. Further testing is done by running NJOY to generate an 131 1451 93 ACE library for Monte Carlo codes like MCNP and a MATXS library 131 1451 94 for deterministic codes. The heating curve generated by the 131 1451 95 HEATR module is useful for checking potential energy-balance 131 1451 96 problems. The figure did not reveal any problems. The plots 131 1451 97 produced by the ACER module also showed nothing suspicious. 131 1451 98 131 1451 99 General comments 131 1451 100 An ad-hoc evaluated nuclear data file for 3H for incident 131 1451 101 neutrons with energies up to 60 MeV was produced for inclusion 131 1451 102 in the FENDL-3 library by extending the ENDF/B VII.1b4 131 1451 103 evaluation. It incorporates the information contained in other 131 1451 104 evaluated data files and the experimental EXFOR database. The 131 1451 105 trends in the total cross section are consistent with the 131 1451 106 measured data. The experimental information on the other 131 1451 107 reaction channels is poor and there are no theoretical model 131 1451 108 calculations to support the data included in the evaluation.
