Consultants' Meeting of INDEN
International Nuclear Data Evaluation Network
on the Evaluated Nuclear Data of the Structural Materials
Scientific Secretaries: R.Capote and A. Trkov
Background
International Nuclear Data Evaluation Network is an activity aimed at streamlining the evaluation activities, taking advantage of expertise in different laboratories in Member States. The activities would follow the pattern of the highly successful CIELO project, organised through the NEA Data Bank. The aim is to minimise duplication of work, except for the testing of different approaches to the evaluation, and to produce evaluated data files with a broad consesus that can be adopted fully or in parts by the National Data Evaluation projects.
Scope
The emphasis is on (but not strictly limited to) the structural materials Fe, Cr, Ni, Cu, including the resonance parameters, the interference between different nuclides and peculiarities specific to certain nuclides. Of special interest is the assignment of the upper energy limit of the resonance range, the treatment of the fluctuating cross sections above the resonance range and the degree of detail in the angular distribution representation. It is assumed that the covariance information is an integral part of the evaluation process.
Objectives of the Meeting
The main objectives are:- Review the current status of nuclear data files regarding their completeness and performance.
- Review differential and integral measurements that are currently in progress.
- Check the impact of resonance interference between isotopes/nuclides, details of angular distribution representation, assignment of the upper energy limit of the resolved resonance range and the associated advantages/disadvantages of a more accurate self-shielding treatment versus missing resonances.
- Define strategies for producing improved evaluated data files in terms of consistency with differential data and integral performance.
The overall objective is to co-ordinate the activities in different laboratories with the final goal of obtaining consistent evaluated data files that respect the differential data and perform well in integral experiments.
Additional materials
The GNTOEN utility converts GENDF from GROUPR and ERRORR modules of NJOY into ENDF-6 format.
The current version of the iron isotope evaluations in ENDF format are available for testing purposes.
The corresponding ACE files are also available.
