Technical Meeting on the Nuclear Data for Neutron Activation Analysis and Dosimetry

15-18 July 2019, IAEA Headquarters, Vienna, Austria

Agenda

The Agenda is available here.

Summary Report

The summary report is available as INDC(NDS)-0795.

Background

The Meeting is a follow-up of the CRP on Testing and Improving the International Reactor Dosimetry and Fusion File (IRDFF), which was formally completed in 2017. Since then, much of the work in progress was completed, a number of new evaluations were done and most of the actions from the last Meeting were addressed. We are in the final stages of assembling the new IRDFF-II cross section, including residual production reaction cross sections from elemental data. Preparation of the documentation is in progress and is scheduled for publication in the next Special Issue of Nuclear Data Sheets.

A significant part of the document will be devoted to the data validation. The applicability and the adequacy of the experiments used for the validation of the different parts of the library will be discussed.

Objectives

The main objectives of the Meeting are to:

  • Endorse the new additions to the IRDFF Library.
  • Check the contents of the IRDFF-II library.
  • Review the final draft of the manuscript of the paper describing the library.

    General information

Note that the final manuscript of the paper needs to be submitted two weeks after the Meeting. At present we do not foresee any new additions to the library, except when corrections are needed. The file assembly is done by D.L. Aldama, A. Trkov and R. Capote. The lead role in writing the document is with

  • P. Griffin (overall responsibility for organising the document)
  • S. Simakov (benchmark testing and validation)
  • L. Greenwood (high-energy testing and validation).

The beta-version of the library is expected to be released before the end of April, except for the comments sections, which will be finalised later. If you have suggestions for the library itself or the validation, please contact the person responsible for the task.

We made some progress with the preparation of the REAL-201X exercise. Some of the underlying materials were checked for consistency and completeness. We expect that we shall be ready to announce the start of the exercise during the Meeting.
