An 14543 1 9 aluminum ring mount holds both the source disk and a 14543 1 10 9 mg/cm2 thick nickel cover foil. The source has an 14543 1 11 activity of 3.e5 fissions per minute. 14543 1 12 DETECTOR (SIBAR,SILI,TELES) A two-detector particle telescope 14543 1 13 of the deltaE,E- type is used for energy measurement 14543 1 14 and identification of the light charged particles. The 14543 1 15 deltaE detector is a 60 mu-m thick, 50 mm2 totally 14543 1 16 depleted silicon surface barrier detector, held in a 14543 1 17 transmission mount. A 2000 mu-m thick, 80 mm2 lithium 14543 1 18 drifted silicon detector is used for the E detector. 14543 1 19 MONITOR A 210Po alpha-particle source was used to calibrate the14543 1 20 telescope system. The calibration was checked by using 14543 1 21 the long-range fission alpha particles from 252Cf as a 14543 1 22 secondary standard. 14543 1 23 CORRECTION For source air and nickel foil energy loss, 14543 1 24 the (n,p) particle telescope background, 14543 1 25 protons simulated by alpha particles detected with 14543 1 26 coincident gamma rays, 14543 1 27 protons from 58Ni(n,p) and 58Ni(alpha,p) reactions 14543 1 28 in the nickel cover foil, 14543 1 29 protons from 14Ni(alpha,p) reaction in air trapped 14543 1 30 beneath the nickel cover foil, 14543 1 31 knock-on protons, from hydrogenous
