The energy resolutions (FWHM) at 1332.5 keV of C3054001 15 60Co of the HPGe detectors used were 1.9 keV at FZJ andC3054001 16 2.5 keV at LBNL. C3054001 17 SAMPLE The 25 microm thick Ti foils of natural isotopic C3054001 18 composition consisting of five stable isotopes, C3054001 19 namely 46Ti (8.25 %), 47Ti (7.44 %), 48Ti (73.72 %), C3054001 20 49Ti (5.41 %) and 50Ti (5.18 %) (supplied by C3054001 21 Goodfellow; purity: 99.6 %) were cut in circular C3054001 22 discs with a diameter of 13 mm. These foils were also C3054001 23 used as beam monitors. Six natTi-containing stacks C3054001 24 were irradiated with protons. C3054001 25 METHOD (STTA,ACTIV) Excitation functions of the proton- C3054001 26 induced reactions on natural titanium were measured C3054001 27 by the stacked-sample activation technique. The C3054001 28 counting was done repeatedly in several time segments C3054001 29 depending on the half-life of the radionuclide. C3054001 30 Measurements were carried out at distances of 10 cm, C3054001 31 20 cm and 30 cm from the surface of the detector to C3054001 32 keep the detector dead time below 5 %. At these C3054001 33 counting positions, the effect of extended C3054001 34 sample-size on the efficiency, and the random and C3054001 35 true coincidence losses were negligible. C3054001 36 ERR-ANALYS (ERR-T) The uncertainty in the measured cross section C3054001 37 value was determined from the uncertainties C3054001 38 associated with measurements: peak area (0.2-8 %), C3054001 39 efficiency of the detector (4 %), gamma-ray intensitiesC3054001 40 (0.0001-1.2 %), half-life (0.02-0.3 %) and proton fluxC3054001 41 (6 %). The overall uncertainty of measured cross C3054001 42 sections amounted to 7-14 % (1 sigma). Due to weak bad C3054001 43 shape peak at 372.76 keV emitted in the decay of 43Sc, C3054001 44 a large uncertainty was associated in the peak area C3054001 45 analysis particularly in lower energy region (<16 MeV) C3054001 46 as well as with its measured cross section. C3054001 47 (ERR-S,0.2,8.) Peak area. C3054001 48 (ERR-1) Efficiency of the detector. C3054001 49 (ERR-2,0.0001,1.2) Gamma-ray intensities. C3054001 50 (ERR-3,0.02,0.3) Half-life. C3054001 51 (ERR-4) Proton flux. C3054001 52 CORRECTION The count rate of each product radionuclide was C3054001 53 extrapolated to the end of bombardment (EOB) and C3054001 54 thereafter converted to decay rate by introducing the C3054001 55 necessary corrections for the efficiency of the C3054001 56 detector and the intensity of the gamma-ray.
