FACILITY (ESTRG,1USATNL) Experiment performed at HIgS facility L025900100014
at the Triangle Universities Nuclear Laboratory L025900100015
SAMPLE Cryogenic liquid 4He target in form of cylinder with L025900100016
length of 20 cm and 4 cm in diameter. The cylindrical L025900100017
axis of the target cell was aligned along the beam L025900100018
           axis.The liquid 4He was maintained at 3.4 K with a L025900100019
           target thickness of (4.17+-0.04)E+23 nuclei/cm2. The L025900100020
walls and end windows of the cell were made from L025900100021
           0.125-mm-thick Kapton foil. L025900100022
DETECTOR (NAICR) The Compton scattered photons were detected L025900100023
by an array of eight NaI(Tl) detectors with core L025900100024
diameter of 25.4 cm surrounded by eight annular L025900100025
           segments of 7.5-cm-thick NaI(Tl) crystals. The L025900100026
lengths of the core NaI crystals ranged from 25.4 to L025900100027
30.5 cm. The annular segments were used as an L025900100028
anticoincidence shield to veto the cosmic-ray L025900100029
background. Detectors were placed at scattering L025900100030
           angles of theta = 55deg, 90deg and 125deg in the L025900100031
           laboratory frame. L025900100032
INC-SOURCE (LCS) The HIgS facility produces a quasimonoenergetic L025900100033
Compton backscattered photon beam tunable in wide L025900100034
energy range with either linear or circular L025900100035
polarization. The gamma-ray beam pulses have a width L025900100036
of about 300 ps FWHM and are separated by 179 ns. L025900100037
